Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park, Kenya

Depart Nairobi at 0800 hrs and proceed to Amboseli National Park to arrive in good time for lunch.

Lunch at Amboseli Serena Lodge followed by afternoon game drives at the magnificent Amboseli National Park in the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Kibo safari camp or similar facility.

Day 2: Amboseli National Park, Kenya

Full day safari in this photogenic Amboseli National Park including morning and afternoon game drives.

You will enjoy your meals and overnight stay at Amboseli Kibo safari camp or similar facility. Amboseli National Park is one of the most popular wildlife sanctuaries in Kenya. Situated close to the Kenya- Tanzania border, Amboseli National Park lies at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa (5,896m) whose snow-capped summit presents a splendid view on clear days.

Amboseli National Park is often referred to as “The home of Elephants’ as some of the largest elephant herds in Africa are found here. The game park also contains vast groups of zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, buffalo, hippo and antelope, escaping the cold emitted from the mountain. Also to be found in Amboseli are lion, leopard, cheetah, rhino and many other species of plain game.

Day 3: Amboseli National Park, Kenya- Lake Manyara, Tanzania

After breakfast, we drive into Tanzania via the Namanga border. We also pass through Arusha, stopping for lunch, then on to Lake Manyara National Park. Regardless of the direction we approach Manyara you will marvel at the beautiful view. You will enjoy your dinner and overnight stay at Lake Manyara’s splendid Jambo campsite or similar facility.

Lake Manyara is a shallow, alkaline lake, which is the normal sate of foam in the Rift Valley wall, and it is at the base of the dramatic western escarpment giving it a beautiful and serene setting.

In addition to this peaceful setting, Lake Manyara’s main attractions are its rich bird life, tree climbing lions and its hippos, which you can see at a closer range than from many other places.

Lake Manyara also hosts thousands of flamingos at all the times of the year and has diverse vegetation ranging from savannah, to marshes and acacia woodland, enabling a variety of wildlife habitats including butterflies.

Day 4: Lake Manyara – Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

Morning game drives at Lake Manyara National Park before proceeding to Serengeti National Park with packed lunch boxes. We view the game as we proceed to Serengeti Seronera campsite or similar, for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

The day is spent exploring the vast Serengeti National Park, rich with abundant wildlife.

Seronera provides you with the opportunity to seeing the annual wildebeest migration in the northern part of the Serengeti. You will have your dinner and overnight stay at the Serengeti Seronera campsite or similar facility.

Serengeti is Africa’s most famous and Tanzania’s largest park covering 14,736 sq km and adjoinis the Masai Mara National reserve in Kenya.  With a wildebeest population of about 2 million and several other hoofed species (which include zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, impala, topi, Grant’s gazelle, kongoni, eland, Kirk’s dik- dik, klipspringer, roan, oryx, oribi, waterbuck, buffalo, giraffe and warthog), the Serengeti is sure to attract a string of prey such as lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, golden jackals and bat eared foxes.

Elephants are relatively in plenty population and the few remaining black rhinoceros are restricted to special areas to keep them away from poachers.

Serengeti also offers rewarding bird viewing with ostrich and kori bustard being common, varieties of larks, finches, and raptors can be seen, but the most distinctive small bird is the lilac-breasted roller.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater via Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania

After an early morning breakfast, you drive south to the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater via the historic Olduvai Gorge whilst game viewing. We stop to enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush at a spot chosen by your guide. You will have your dinner and overnight stay at Ngorongoro Simba campsite or similar facility.

The Olduvai Gorge cuts through rock beds layered in time, in a sequence from over 3 million years ago to the present. It is here where humanoid bones have been found dating back to over 1.75 million years including a direct ancestor of modern man. Fossil footprints (over three million years old) have also been found here and are the most ancient footprints yet discovered. There is an excellent site museum where you can explore the diggings with a guide and it is also a great place to view birds.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater- Arusha, Tanzania

A morning crater tour then we proceed to Arusha with your packed picnic lunches. Dinner and overnight at Impala Hotel or similar facility.

The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s biggest whole volcanic caldera at 8,300 sq km and is arguably the most stunning arena.  It is frequently described as one of the wonders of the world, not only because of its geological magnificence, but also because it serves as an extraordinary natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s largest populations of large mammals.

Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Maasai Mara National Park, Kenya

Pick up from your hotel at 0730 hrs where you have a safari briefing session with our tour consultant. We then drive to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve enjoying the spectacular scenic views of the Great Rift Valley.

The Maasai Mara Game Reserve is situated in Kenya, and borders Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park, and is one of Kenya’s most favoured game-viewing areas. The reserve covers 700 square miles of magnificent wilderness.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy a game viewing drive and see the sun set as you trail the Big 5 – lions in large prides, elephants, buffalos, zebras and numerous plain game.

Dinner and overnight stay at Mara Enchoro, David Livingstone Ltd, Sidai Camp or similar facility.

Day 2: Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya

A full day is spent exploring the park in search of the big 5. Morning and afternoon game drives are offered.

An optional hot air balloon safari can be arranged at an extra cost of US$ 585 per person which should be booked in advance.

You will enjoy your dinner and overnight stay at Mara Enchoro or Sidai Camp or similar facility.

The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will easily see lion, rhino, hippo, crocodile, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, warthog, hyena, jackal, wild dog, leopard, many kinds of antelope and elephant.

It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti in Tanzania, followed on their heels by the predators of the savanna – lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and flocks of vultures.

Day 3: Maasai Mara – Lake Nakuru National Park, Kenya

We depart from the camp soon after breakfast and proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park.

Have lunch at Lake Nakuru Guest House then proceed for an afternoon game drive at Lake Nakuru, a shallow alkaline lake in the Rift Valley, renowned for its spectacular flamingo population.

Although Lake Nakuru is primarily a bird sanctuary, there are a considerable number of animals to be encountered, such as many large game animals like the zebra, elephant, and gazelle and, if we are fortunate enough, we may also see rhino. Lake Nakuru National Park was the first place in Kenya selected as a rhino reserve.

Here is one of the few places where we can see Rothschild’s giraffes. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Guest House or similar facility.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Nairobi, Kenya

We depart from the Lake Nakuru National Park and proceed to Nairobi Hotel for overnight stay.

This evening you have enough time to explore the city. Please ask for a guided tour from your hotel. For those anxious for a night experience, Nairobi offers some of the best night clubs with traditional and live concerts.

Day 5: Nairobi  – Amboseli National Park, Kenya

Depart soon after breakfast and drive to Amboseli National Park via Nairobi with a packed picnic lunch. We enjoy an afternoon game drive then proceed to Kibo Safari Camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Break the camp soon after breakfast and drive to Tarangire National Park. After lunch we proceed for an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight stay at a campsite.

Herds of up to 300 elephants scratch the dry river bed for underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons. It’s the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem – a smorgasbord for predators – and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed.

Day 11: Tarangire – Arusha, Tanzania

Breakfast at leisure then drive to Arusha to arrive by 1200 hrs. Board an afternoon shuttle bus to Nairobi to arrive by 1800 hrs. Drop off at the airport or drive to KIA, according to flight arrangements.

Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Nairobi, Kenya

Pick up from the airport on arrival and transfer you to Boulevard Hotel or similar for overnight stay in readiness for an adventure safari the following morning.

Day 2: Nairobi – Lake Nakuru National Park, Kenya

Pick up from hotel at 0730hrs after a safari briefing session with our tour guide then drive to Lake Nakuru National Park to arrive in good time for lunch at Lake Nakuru Guest House. Enjoy an afternoon game drive then return to the camp for dinner and overnight stay.

The park covers 180 sq km and is home to warthog, waterbuck, buffalo, reedbuck and the occasional leopard. White and black rhino were introduced to the park some years ago and you will find white rhino at the southern end. The park has also retained its reputation as an ornithologists’ delight with more than 400 species of bird found here.

We spend the night at a Lake Nakuru Guest House.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara, Kenya

Depart the camp soon after breakfast and drive via the scenic floor of the Great Rift Valley to Maasai Mara. Lunch then proceed for an evening game drive.

Dinner and overnight stay at Mara Sidai Camp, Enchoro Camp or similar facility.

Day 4 – 5: Maasai Mara, Kenya

A full day is spent exploring the Maasai Mara in search of the big 5. Morning and afternoon game drives are offered.

We leave the campsite soon after breakfast and drive through the southern part of the reserve viewing game as we proceed to the Tanzanian border at Isebania, Sirari. On entering Tanzania we drive to the Stopover Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Musoma – Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

After an early morning breakfast we enter the Serengeti via Dabaka gate for full day game drive, driving south and west to the western corridor of the great Serengeti. We stop in the park for a picnic lunch.

Day 8: Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

The whole day is spent exploring the park. Morning and afternoon game drives are offered. Dinner and overnight stay at a Seronera Campsite or Seronera Lodge.

The Serengeti National Park is arguably the most impressive wildlife sanctuary in the world. During the months December through March the seemingly unending plains of the southern Serengeti and the Conservation Area are inhabited by enormous herds of wildebeest and zebra, grazing on rain ripened grass. In the calving season (late January through mid March) the herds concentrate at the Ndutu and Salei Plains (southern Serengeti, Ngorongoro Conservation Area) attracting the attention of predators like the lion, cheetah and hyena.

Day 9: Serengeti –Ngorongoro Conservation Area via Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania

We enjoy our game viewing as we drive southeast up into the magnificent Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping over at Olduvai Gorge where we will enjoy our picnic lunch as we tour the gorge. We spend the night at the Simba Campsite on the crater rim, lodge or similar facility.

Day 10: Ngorongoro – Arusha, Tanzania

Early breakfast then descend into the crater for a full morning crater tour. Lunch then proceed to Arusha. Dinner and overnight stay at Arusha Crown Hotel or similar.

Ngorongoro and other freestanding mountains are volcanic in origin, formed during the fracturing process which created the Rift valley 15 to 20 million years ago. When it peaked in size 3 million years ago it was a similar height to Mt. Kilimanjaro today!

Day 11: Arusha – Nairobi, Tanzania

We take breakfast then board a morning shuttle bus to Nairobi departing at 0730 hrs to arrive at 1400 hrs and drop off at your hotel, airport or be transferred to  KIA if tour ends in Arusha, depending on your flight arrangements (you may opt to Arrive at JKIO Nairobi and depart from KIA).
